Recipe for a Community
The Recipe invests in human capital – the women and families seeking our help. This is and will always be our #1 priority.
Investing in Human Capital First
In response to the challenges set forth by the 1994 Cairo Consensus and the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, the Turimiquire Foundation has developed Recipe for a Community.
The Recipe represents an organic response to the needs of the poorest of the poor in the communities in which we have worked. It brings together three tiers of Foundation services based on the “internal clock” of low-income families – how they typically choose to utilize our services. The Recipe offers the services that are most relevant to their success. It invests in human capital first.
As a service delivery model, we believe the Recipe has strategic implications in the NGO world. It offers a cohesive three-step blueprint for how an NGO can deliver maximum value in human services to its clients:
Step One: Stabilize the Family
- Family Planning Services
- Reproductive Health Education
Step Two: Focus on Education
- Teacher Development
- Student Scholarships
- Public Schools and Infrastructure
Step Three: Improve Infrastructure and Opportunity
- Community Centers (Urban and Rural)
- Computers and Internet
- Public Service Infrastructure
- Sustainable Livelihood
