Big Impact at a Small Cost

We are helping many thousands of Venezuelans on a very modest budget. Many of our supporters are amazed at what is being done with such small amounts of money. It’s about being very smart – and very passionate – about every dollar that we spend. It’s also about wisely investing in human beings first!
94% directly into the field
Over the past twelve years, an average of 94% of every dollar has gone directly into the field. Here’s how:
⇒ All Foundation Officers and Board Members are 100% volunteer – they receive no compensation of any kind.
⇒ We do not spend money creating new systems or investing in costly new infrastructure – we work to improve existing infrastructure that is already in place in Venezuela.
⇒ Our broad network of partners – both public and private – focus on service delivery using a wonderful team of Venezuelan medical, educational, and social services professionals.
⇒ We receive in-country support from Venezuelan sources, including in-kind contributions of infrastructure, equipment, supplies, and staff.
⇒ Favorable exchange rates help us do a lot with a little.

What Your Support Can Do:
Community
Small sums can help to solve a myriad of individual and practical problems that permit the rural community as a whole to flourish. We know and love the families that we serve.
$50 can lift a family through a crisis and allow a child to stay in school
$100 can bring piped water or electricity to a home
Family Planning
Our program reaches three rural counties and empowers the lives of thousands of women and their families every year.
$200 helps 200 adolescents to become knowledgeable about their sexuality
In 2012, we gave 119 educational workshops in reproductive health and family planning to a total of 2,159 participants. Because we work directly with State institutions, each workshop costs about $17 USD, or less then $1.10 per participant. The self-awareness is, of course, priceless.
$400 provides family planning for up to 35 women for one year
We are able to keep our costs low by using Venezuela’s existing public health infrastructure, doing social marketing in the private sector, and receiving contraceptives and other supplies at a very low cost. Still, there are thousands more women seeking this assistance than we can afford to help right now.
$1500 offers five mature families a permanent way to control their fertility
Each laparoscopic surgical sterilization (tubal ligation) costs only $300 USD through the combined generous support of the private sector, patient co-pays and other assistance. Our waiting list is always too long for what has consistently been the most popular and in-demand service we offer.
Education
We currently offer financial and logistical support to 45 rural students in high school and a gratifying 10 students who, with our support, have made it to the college level. But there are several hundred more students in our rural area who need our help.
$250 supports one high school scholarship student for one school year
We spend $250 per scholarship student per year on carefully orchestrated assistance. Many more students apply for our help than we can respond to on our current budget.
$700 supports one college scholarship student for one academic year.
Each year, a few more of our low income rural students graduate from high school and seek higher education, and we continue to support them.
$1000 pays for three part-time staff at the community center for three months
Monthly staffing for our rural Community Center costs about $300 and educational materials cost another $100.
Dreaming together, we can transform not just one community, but many communities.
Please come dream with us …
