Humanitarian Aid for Venezuela

  • The collapse of public health services in Venezuela over the past two decades is a harsh reality well documented in the international press.
  • COVID-19 has severely aggravated Venezuelans' desperate need for medical services.
  • People are turning to us for medical and humanitarian aid.
  • We are often the only option they have in our provincial city and surrounding rural areas.
  • We are asking you to HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

As many of you know, our Turimiquire Foundation began to offer family planning in 1996. We have since served over 60,000 women and their families, offering a variety of contraceptive methods to the predominantly rural populations of northeastern Venezuela.

In the process, we have built up reliable in-country medical infrastructure. Our goal now is to use this infrastructure to confront the increased duress of COVID-19 with more humanitarian primary and secondary care. We are already responding with the resources that we have, and we are well positioned to do so much more.

What we need now is the funding to more fully utilize this infrastructure and expand its outreach.
  • We work closely with OB-GYNs improving perinatal health management and treating reproductive health conditions.
  • We partner with a local foundation Fundación Esperanza Rosa treating the alarming prevalence of breast conditions and cancers in low-income women.
  • We collaborate with doctors across a range of further specialties: Oncology, ENT, ophthalmology, cardiology, pediatrics, internal medicine and more.
  • We have organized surgical teams at two of the principal clinics in our city of Cumana, Centro Clinico Santa Rosa and Policlínica Sucre en Cumaná. We are willing and able to confront the enormous unmet need for surgeries in our service area.
Please Help Us Do More, Sooner!
Leveraging the infrastructure that we have built, we are already offering basic humanitarian medical services:
  • Over 10,000 surgeries - including hernia repairs, hysterectomies, partial and radical mastectomies, caesarean sections, splenectomies, and cataracts - for low-income patients who can no longer count on the public health sector.
  • Medical consultations in a range of specialties, as well as CT-scans, diagnostic studies and biopsies for patients in need.
  • Partnership with the public and private sectors, offering services and surgeries through excellent reciprocate arrangements with the doctors and the clinics where we work.
  • An extensive database and photo archive documenting our services.
  • A little goes a long way: donations, subsidized social marketing, and sliding scale fees, all help to cover our operating costs.
We're seeking additional funding to help us confront this urgent unmet need. We can improve and save lives, if you will help us!
