By Land or by Sea

The Foundation empowers low-income women, men and their families with family planning and reproductive health services wherever and whenever we can serve them. As our coverage continues to expand, we are reaching not only remote rural corners of northeastern Venezuela, we are also traveling to various islands off-shore along the Caribbean coast, where the unmet need is enormous.

Here, our team is about to embark to the remote island of Coche to offer our services. We are combining forces with volunteer university students on the larger island of Margarita to reach out to this small island's marginalized fishing populations.

Dr. Del Valle Smith, OB-GYN, presents our services and contraceptive options to the women of the island of Coche.

Contraceptive implants continue to be the popular long-acting reversible contraceptive method (LARC) that offer protection from an unintended pregnancy for up to five years.

Mission accomplished after a long day!

We now head back to the main island of Margarita where we will deliver more services tomorrow!

On our latest trip to the islands, 329 women received contraceptive implants. Many more women know of our services, and are enrolling to receive them. We will be back soon to help everyone who is seeking family planning services to receive them!

Staffed and run by Venezuelan women, the Foundation's reproductive health and education programs deliver the services that Venezuelan women (and men) are directly asking for. Our doctors, nurses, clinic workers, social workers, sociologists, educators, and rural promoters – all backed by an excellent administrative staff based in the city of Cumana – make a wonderful team dedicated to changing lives every day!
